Mar. 16, 2010 (McClatchy-Tribune Regional News delivered by Newstex) -- A large area union will be host for a forum next month that examines sustainable-energy possibilities in the construction industry.
The daylong Sustainable KC 2010 Green Energy Conference is scheduled for April 8 at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 124 union hall, 301 E. 103rd Terrace, Kansas City.
The conference will bring together construction, architectural, engineering and facilities professionals to explore the realities of optimizing energy efficiencies, applying renewable energy sources, and addressing the sustainability construction market.
"Low-consumption lighting solutions, building automation and energy management have long been a staple of our members and contractors," Terry Akins, Local 124's business manager, said in a statement. "Now more than ever, we intend to lead the charge in what is perceived as a new market, applying the skills we have acquired through our first-class training facility."
Also hosting the event are the American Institute of Architects of Kansas City and the Central Plains chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.
The conference fee is $99-$149.
